⚡ Experiencing a Power Outage

  1. Check if it’s just your home or the wider area

    • Look outside to see if streetlights or your neighbours’ houses are affected.

    • If it’s just your property, check your switchboard and fuses.

  2. Check your main switch

    • Sometimes a tripped switch or blown fuse is the cause.

    • If you’re unsure how to safely reset it, contact a qualified electrician.

  3. Check planned outages

    • Visit your local lines company’s website or call them to see if maintenance or faults are affecting your area.

  4. Contact your lines company

    • If there’s no info online and the outage continues, call your electricity lines company (not Frank Energy). They manage the network in your area.

🚨 Electrical Emergencies

Electrical faults can be dangerous. Call 111 immediately if there is a risk to people or property.

Signs of an electrical emergency:

  • Sparking or smoking wires, sockets, or appliances

  • Downed power lines or exposed live wires

  • Burning smells coming from electrical equipment

  • Electric shocks from appliances or outlets

What to do:

  • Stay safe: Keep well clear of any electrical hazard.

  • Do not touch: Never go near downed lines or attempt to fix damaged equipment.

  • Call for help: Dial 111 in life-threatening situations. Then, call your local lines company to report the fault.

  • Isolate power if safe: If possible, switch off the main power supply to your home until the issue is resolved.
