Had a House Fire?

Need help sorting out your power after a fire?

Written by Nelio

First things first: Safety.

If there’s any risk to people or property, call 111 immediately.

If it’s safe, turn off your main power switch and any sensitive electrical gear (computers, cooking, heating, etc).

What we’ll need to help

To get your meter removed or replaced, we’ll need a few details:

  • When did the fire happen?

  • What happened exactly?

  • Is your home still livable, or are you staying somewhere else?

  • Will the property be repaired, or is it being demolished?

  • Do you think the meter board caused the fire? (If yes, please send photos.)

  • Was the meter or switchboard damaged?

  • Did the fire service attend? If so, did they share what they think caused it?

  • What were the weather conditions like at the time?

  • Has any electrical work been done recently?

  • Is the account holder the tenant or the homeowner?

If your property’s been badly damaged and you need to decommission the service, reach out to us via live chat when you’re ready.

Will there be a fee?

If your wiring’s still safe and there’s just smoke damage, we’ll replace your meter at no cost.
