Below are a few techniques that can be used to check where the electricity is being used at a property.
Frank Energy Mobile app:
Our smartphone app lets you:
View monthly and daily use;
Keep an eye on your current and estimated monthly use in dollars and kilowatts;
Pay via credit card;
Download the Frank Energy Mobile App today, by searching for Frank Energy in the Apple App Store or the Google Play store.
Load Test
Check how much energy your house is using by selecting the load screen on your meter. The number showing is how many kilowatts (kWh) of electricity you will use in an hour if your home continued to use the same amount of electricity.
Please see enclosed, information on how to use your advanced meter.
To check how much an individual appliance is using:
Switch all your electricity appliances in the property off at the wall.
Check the load screen and note the kW number,
Switch on appliance you wish to check the consumption for.
The load screen on the meter will indicate the amount of kilowatts being used by that appliance.
Switch off that appliance.
Repeat steps 3 to 5 for each individual appliance.
Check page two of your Frank Energy invoice to see how much each kWh costs.
Multiply the kW number by the kWh cost to find out how much that appliance would cost to run for 1 hour.
Take daily meter readings
The meter will display a total reading for all the meter registers at the property in the meter.
Record the reading showing on the meter at the same time every day. Alongside this, note which appliances have been used that day and any other factors that may influence energy use.
To work out your daily use across all your registers, take today’s read and subtract (minus) yesterday’s read. As you go compare the daily kWh used with which appliances are being used and the factors you have noted.
We suggest that you do this for at least 7 days and experiment with changing how you use your appliances during this time to see how this impacts your daily kWh use.
