If you or someone in your household depends on mains electricity for critical medical support — for example, for health, age, or disability reasons — it’s really important you let us know. Losing power in these situations could pose a serious risk to health or wellbeing.

To make sure we can help protect your supply, you’ll need to be registered as a Medically Dependent Consumer.

How to apply for medically dependent status

You can do this by completing a Notice of Medically Dependent Consumer Status form.

  • Or, you can ask your primary healthcare provider for a copy. They’ll help you fill it out and discuss an emergency backup plan in case of an outage.

Once your form is submitted and approved, we’ll update your account to make sure your medically dependent status is recorded.
