When you make a payment, it’s natural to want it to appear in your account right away. However, most payments go through a standard banking process before they are fully cleared and visible. Here’s what you need to know:

Standard Bank Processing Times in New Zealand

  • Domestic bank transfers: Typically processed within 24-48 business hours.

  • Weekends and public holidays: Payments made outside business hours will usually be processed on the next working day.

  • Cut-off times: Payments made after your bank’s daily cut-off time may not start processing until the following business day.

Why Does It Take Time?

Banks use a system to verify and settle transactions between institutions. This ensures:

  • The payment is legitimate.

  • Funds are available in the sender’s account.

  • Both banks reconcile the transaction correctly.

What If My Payment Hasn’t Appeared?

If your payment hasn’t shown up after 24 business hours:

  1. Double-check the payment details (account number, reference).

  2. Confirm the payment date and time.

  3. Contact your bank or payment provider for an update.

  4. Contact Frank Energy to query your payment
