Managing an account after someone has passed away
Losing a loved one is never easy. We know there’s a lot to take care of, so we’ll keep this simple and help you sort their energy account quickly.
Option 1: Sign up the energy account with a new provider
If you’d like to keep the power on at the property, you’ll need to sign up with another energy provider.
Frank Energy is no longer taking new customers, but you can compare other plans and providers at Powerswitch to find what works best for you.
Option 2: Cancel the service
If energy is no longer needed at the property, we can close the account and send the final bill to the estate.
Our team can also help discuss any remaining balance or credit.
Who can make these changes?
To manage the account of someone who has passed away, you’ll need to be authorised to act on their behalf. That could be:
A joint account holder
An executor of the estate
The deceased’s solicitor
A trustee or business partner
If you’re not listed on the account, we may need a bit of written evidence (for example, confirmation from a solicitor or executor). We’ll let you know exactly what’s required — no guesswork needed.
